Between Volcán Agua and Volcán Fuego, on land that was once one of Antigua's earliest coffee plantations, stands a family home that has been lived in, with intention and care, for more than thirty years. Colonial architecture, original furniture, and a lifetime of Guatemalan art. A solar-heated pool framed by gardens, fireplaces lit for you in the evening, and a small team who know the house by heart. Antigua rewards wandering. This is the house to return to.

Four bedrooms for up to eight guests, arranged around the gardens and terraces.

The house was furnished over decades. Much of the furniture is original, and every room is arranged with intention. The living and dining rooms were made for long meals and late conversations, with fireplaces for cool Antigua evenings; Juan Carlos lights them for you. The kitchen has filtered drinking water and an ice dispenser.

On the grounds are the estate's orchid greenhouses, tended by Nery, an orchid expert who cares for them with the patience they ask for. Season after season, his blooms find their way into the house, so there is always something flowering in its rooms. When Nery is on shift, guests are welcome to visit the greenhouses; he is happy to share both the science and the beauty behind them.

Outside, the solar-heated pool sits within manicured gardens. Let us know a day ahead what time you'd like it ready, and the sun does the rest.

Streaming TV and parking on the property.

The entire house is yours: every bedroom, the common spaces, the gardens, the terraces and the pool. The entrance is staffed, the front gate opens by remote, and there is parking inside the property. Clara and Juan Carlos are on the grounds during the day, attentive and unobtrusive, and there when you need them.

The orchid greenhouses are open to guests whenever Nery is on shift.

Sofía, the house manager, is your first call for anything: questions, requests, or simply getting your bearings. She knows this house as well as anyone.

Clara looks after the house every day, with housekeeping at 10am and turn-down at 5:30pm. Juan Carlos tends the garden and the fires, and prepares breakfast on request as an additional service.

Nery cares for the orchids and is glad to walk you through the greenhouses.

This is a family home. We ask what you would ask of anyone staying somewhere you love: coasters on every surface, food and drinks in the common areas, and furniture left where it stands.

Tap water is not for drinking. Filtered water is provided in the kitchen.

Laundry is available as an additional service. For evenings closer to home, Studios Paz can arrange private dinners, cooking classes, a mixologist, rum tastings, massage and wellness treatments, and babysitting.
